A
Special Message from our Founder, Stephanie
Wilson:
What
is Aloha?
Wikipedia says: Aloha in
the Hawaiian language means affection, love,
compassion, mercy, and hello, among other
sentiments of a similar nature. It is used especially
in Hawai'i as a greeting meaning hello and
goodbye. Variations occur based on circumstances
when used as a salutation. Aloha kakahiaka is
the phrase for good morning. Aloha auinala is
the phrase for good afternoon. Aloha ahiahi is
the phrase for good evening. Aloha kakou is
a common form of welcome to all. More
than a word, Aloha is a Spirit - Over
the decades the word Aloha has been
used in reference to a complex state of mind called
the Aloha Spirit or Sense
of Aloha. The Aloha Spirit is
often described as a sense of care and hospitality
to those around, even in the face of stressing environments,
occasions or people.
Offering
to others the Aloha my
family and I have experienced during twenty years
of traveling to, and dreaming of, the Hawaiian Islands.
This has come to involve much more than I anticipated
when I first conceived this project. It is a life.
A life in tandem with others, who are woven into
the fabric of Hawaiian Rental Vacations.
Our
quest for the highest quality experience in vacation
rental homes progressed, and
I became convinced that offering the highest quality
products and services was crucial to fulfilling our
vision. I was certain that the total experience of
all the senses must be stimulated and enhanced. This
would increase enjoyment by our guests of their surroundings,
and focus on an important, but much neglected element
of the Hawaiian experience, scent!. Our company's
committment to products with no animal testing led
us to the Body Shop. Their
scents are pure and believable. Their products are
essential and luxuriant. Many are developed from
elements very common to the islands - papaya, coconut,
nuts, mango, passion flower etc. When I think of
what most arrests me about Hawaii, and always stays
with me, it is the air. Dense, sweet, laden with
scent, enveloping and enhancing. Sticking my nose
in jar of Body Shop Coconut Butter almost
transports me to Hawaii!
With
this philosophy in mind, we have
taken great care to choose amenities that reflect
our goal to provide our guests
with only the most luxurious and unique products and
services available.

My
daughters have always motivated me - in
fact, truly led me when I chose to recognise it.
(It was my daughter, Genevieve, that first led
me to the Body Shop Products). There is no doubt
that entrepreneurship is survival at it's best
and sometimes most grueling, and that is what nurtures
creative thinking... "creating
a product or service so good that people will pay
for it"..... over and over again.
Businesses
have the power to do good.
That's why Hawaiian
Rental Vacations overriding commitment is: "To
dedicate our business to the pursuit of social
and environmental change". |
Our
goals are simple. To impact
the environment in as little a negative way as possible,
in the process of bringing more people here to experience
Aloha. We are setting as a goal to be as chemical
free and as non-pollutant to the natural environment
as we can possibly attain.
But
we are not, and never have been, a one-woman-show. Hawaiian
Rental Vacations is a team operation with many people
working towards common goals and sharing common values.
Frankly,
we wouldn’t be here without our team members
and all the local businesses we have developed relationships
with. They continue our
work when we are not present, and have embraced our
concept and dream in such a way that has been beyond
expectation and has left me in awe !
We
salute inspired others, who have had the courage
to buck the system
and deliver a quality product that some said no one would buy.
They continue to be models of creative thought and application.
Aloha
Kakou,
Stephanie
